Drop by and see me at the following events…
Thursday, October 29, The Company House, 7pm. Porkpie IV, featuring Susan Mersereau, matt robinson, Eva Madden-Hagen, Ryan Turner and myself. Hosted by Tara Thorne. This seems to be quickly turning into the best place in town to see writers read new(ish) work. It’s five bucks at the door, and Thursdays are Cheap But Good Wine Night at the CoHo.
Tuesday, November 3, The Company House Anna Quon launches Migration Songs. So excited. I’ve been asked to say a bit about it, and to read, which I will happily do. Probably from Homing.
Stuff I already did…
Thursday, June 4, The Company House, 7pm. Reading, along with Sue Goyette, Charles Crosby, Jackie Torrens and Jessica Marsh at the second edition of Porkpie, a new reading series curated by Tara Thorne and myself. Starts at 7pm sharp, $5 admission, should be piles of fun. I’ll be reading from Fallsy Downsies.
Thursday, June 11, The Marriot, Halifax, 11:45am. Reading and speaking at the APLA 2009. I’ll be reading from Homing, and giving a talk called Taking Inspiration from Where We Are: Working, Living, Writing. In November, I’ll be doing the provincial library association’s meeting in Yarmouth. These two events please me, as the library plays such a huge role in Homing and in my life in general. Very pleased to be asked to speak to librarians.
Saturday, June 27, Frog Hollow Books noon. Signing books and hanging out at Frog Hollow’s new home on Brenton Street. Drop by to say hi and check out their new space. Plus… Kev Corbett will be outside singing and playing!
Thursday, July 2. The Carleton, 10pm. Steven Bowers and the Acoustic Theft are playing their weekly gig at the Carleton… and I just might be their special guest, reading and singing. Drop by, you never know what might happen.
Saturday, August 15, Sunday, August 16, Shelburne Writers’ Festival I’ll be hosting many of the events, plus reading from Fallsy Downsies. This is the second year for the festival. Last year was great. I’m predicting this year will be even greater.
Thursday, August 20, The Company House, 7pm. Drop by for Porkpie, the third edition. The Company House has proven itself a great venue for writers reading new work. Thursday is cheap wine night, the seats are comfy, the crowd is appreciative, and the writers are always top drawer.
Saturday, October 24, Nova Scotia Library Association/Library Boards Association of Nova Scotia annual conference, Yarmouth. The theme of the conference is “The Juggling Act: Finding the
Balance.” I do a fair amount of juggling in my life as writer/broadcaster/editor/etc, so I don’t anticipate having any trouble talking for seventy-five minutes about the challenges and rewards.
Tuesday, October 27, Mount Saint Vincent University, Bedford. Celebrating Writers at the Mount. The university is having a little festival, and they’ve asked me to give a talk and read a little from Fallsy Downsies… and I’ll probably read from Homing, too, because I am funny that way. It starts at 7pm, and is open to the public as far as I know.
